Hanna Dís Whitehead is a product designer from Reykjavík. She studied product design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. She now lives and works in Höfn in Hornafjörður, where she is perfectly happy — she always imagined living on a farm or at least out in the countryside so this makes perfect sense.

She has made her mark as a designer in Iceland and internationally with her distinctive style characterized by over sized forms, playfulness, material experiments, and a mindset best described as “Why not.”

Hanna Dís doesn’t think in terms of exhibitions. She describes it like this: I make one thing and then will very likely want to make something completely different, and so on. Sometimes she returns to a particular object or a method that captivates her, and a series or exhibition emerges , but this is usually not the starting point. Here the focus is on the individual pieces, the models, and other work that has accumulated in her studio — could this be an exhibition? Why not!
