The Jewellery of Ásdís Sveinsdóttir Thoroddsen
The book (Icelandic only) was published in conjunction with the Museum of Design’s exhibition on the jewellery of Ásdís S. Thoroddsen (1920-1992). Lavishly illustrated with photos of the goldsmith’s work, the book contains an essay by art historian Aðalsteinn Ingólfsson, and an account by her children of the home environment created by this artist.

HAGVIRKNI
Domestic design by Icelandic artists 1904-2004
The book (in Icelandic with an English summary) was published in conjunction with an exhibition of domestic objects designed and made by artists in Iceland (Icelandic and foreign). The objects span a wide field in terms of form, material and construction, including chairs, cupboards, shelving, tables and lamps, to name but a few categories.
The book includes a brief biography of each artist, and an essay on the designs by art historian Aðalsteinn Ingólfsson. The artists include Ásgrímur Jónsson, Dieter Roth, Guðrún Hrönn Ragnarsdóttir, Hannes Lárusson, Jón Axel Björnsson, Magnús Pálsson, Magnús Kjartansson, Kristín Jónsdóttir, Sigurður Guðmundsson and Sigurjón Ólafsson.

STÓLAR PÉTURS (Pétur’s Chairs) – 40 years of chair design by Pétur B. Lúthersson
Pétur B. Lúthersson (b. 1936) is one of Iceland’s best-known contemporary designers. He has been prolific in his career as a furniture and interior designer, where his chair designs have a special place.
The book (Icelandic only) showcases Pétur’s chair design. Lavishly illustrated with photos of his designs, it includes an interview with the designer by art historian Aðalsteinn Ingólfsson, and forewords by Björn Bjarnason and Stefán Snæbjörnsson.
